Some people find this concept a big swallow.. and I get it. It’s a scary concept at times. For starters the idea that you’re alone here in the Universe just talking to yourself (you’re not really, not as an individual anyway) - then the idea that everything you perceive is a part of you.. like, see a murderer - am a murderer? (also no). However this is a concept that this whole course is based off of. You don’t have to get on board but you will find yourself hamstrung getting to higher consciousness if you don’t. Fortunately I named this course ‘The Mystic’s Guide to Shadow Work’ so, if you’re not at least conceptually on board with the truths of mysticism then how’d you even get in here, you little scamp?
Rounding back; YOU ARE THE UNIVERSE FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE.
There. I said it. So whatever is sticking in your consciousness, that’s a theme you’re exploring. The idea when we’re operating from a healthy place Universally is that we move with flow and when something grabs us it’s either a point of positive creation (passion etc.) or a sticky point of inner friction that we’re here to resolve internally (sometimes externally too). So if you go about your day not stressed about the fact that serial killers exist, it’s probably not a theme for you personally - but if you have an intense concern that somehow you’re going to fall victim to a serial killer then something is definitely in that theme for you. Conversely if you have a specific fascination with the energy of serial killers (thinking along the lines of true crime podcast fans) then there’s something in it for you. What is in this theme for these hypothetically fascinated or obsessed people? We can’t know unless we examine the case specifically. We can make thematic generalisations that might apply to most people in those scenarios, but we can’t nail it down unless we specifically talk to “Jane Doe” about it, y’know?
Point being that just cause you see it doesn’t mean you are it - but if you’re paying special attention to it in either pole of emotionally charged rejection, compulsion, or obsession, then it’s in you, guaranteed. That also applies to the traits of other people - whatever we’re judging in others we do in ourselves. Sometimes not on a 1:1 scale, but nevertheless the truth. More on this later in the course.
The core idea of this module is that we can use [the outside circumstance] + [our emotional reaction to it] to navigate our internal world and start to understand ourselves deeper, to the eventual point that we can dance with the universe with flow instead of wasting all our energy trying to change other people or the circumstances we’re creating for ourselves externally. It’s alchemising the discord within ourselves so we can respond to the external from the position of our higher selves & be of true service to others by being authentic to our soul & therefore spirit, rather than serving our ego.
**Note: When I refer to “root work” in the second video I am not referring to the ‘rootwork’ of African American folk Magic - I’m referring instead to the intention behind the quotes of Carl Jung; “No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell.” and “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” - the implication being that one must ‘descend’ their own Underworld rather than focus on gaining broader/less personal knowledge about the Universe - it’s best to create stability and integrity within oneself and trust that the higher knowledge will be given to you in synchronous timing/when you can handle it.
